Beef Dripping Chippies

Updated: Jul 6, 2024

I've started mapping UK fish and chip shops that cook with beef dripping. If you know any, please share in the comments.

While reviewing chippies for The Chippy Tour, The tastiest fish in the crispiest batter I have had to date was cooked in palm oil, and the most delicious chips were cooked in rapeseed oil.

The cooking oil or fat quality doesn't guarantee the best results, though many like the taste and smell of beef dripping.

These beef-dripping chippies on the map are recommendations and so are unverified. If you know of any of these that do not cook in beef dripping or used to but no longer do, let me know in the comments so I can adjust the map. Cheers.

Very traditional fish and chips shop. Looks like it hasn't been updated since the 1970s. Really lovely fish and chips cooked in beed dripping.

Thanks for creating this brilliant resource. Unfortunately The Brothers Fish Bar in Walthamstow now use ground nut oil. 😕 Getting proper fish and chips in London is getting very difficult!
